Legal Templates for Website Designers

On this page you’ll find all our specific recommendations, just for your industry and the unique business opportunities you may come across in the future!

From client service contracts, to all the other important legal aspects you’ll face in your web design business, with our customizable contract templates, you be able to legally cover your business, all in under 10 mins!

CLIENT SERVICE AGREEMENT

Let’s start with the services you offer, website design!

Every time you take on a new client to provide your services to, you’ll want to sign a contract with them.

Here’s our recommendation.

If you also plan to offer ongoing service to your clients, such as ‘5 hours of website updates & maintenance services a month,” in other words keeping your clients “on retainer,” then we also recommend our retainer agreement!

Selling through your site

If you also are looking to make sales through your site (say, selling website templates), we also have a Terms & Conditions for the Online Sale of Goods & Services.

If you also need the Privacy Policy & the Website Terms & Conditions as well as Terms & Conditions of Online Sale of Goods & Services, we have a bundle with all three together. When you purchase the bundle of all 3 you’ll save $100!

WEBSITE LEGALITY

We take it that as a website designer, you probably have a (really fabulous) website.

In order to protect your business and your site visitors, you’ll want the following two essential templates, the Privacy Policy & the Website Terms & Conditions.

If you need to purchase both, you can buy them in our Website Basics bundle and save $55.

INCORPORATION

If you’re ready to take the step to incorporate your business as a LLC, you’ll need an operating agreement in order to start the incorporation process.

We have two LLC incorporation templates.

The Single Member LLC is for you if you’re founding the LLC solo.

The Multi-Member LLC is perfect if you’re funding the LLC with one or more business partners.

Note: You just need one of these agreements, not both.

Marketing & collaboration

If you’re ready to take your web design business to the next level, it’s time to start a consistent marketing & collaborations effort!

Here’s what each is used for. If you plan to sell a product and wish to have other industry peers (affiliates) promote it, the affiliate agreement is the right fit for you.

If you are looking to start your own podcast and invite guests on it, then the Podcast Interview Agreement is right for you.

Finally, if you’d like a little help from guest posters/guest writers on your blog or online magazine, then the Article Submissions Agreement is right for you.

hiring

If you’re looking to bring on team members to help you with your web design business, such as becoming a web design agency with a team of designers, or just bringing on a virtual assistant for a little back-end business assistance, there’s a few ways to hire them.

If you’re not sure what classification you should give your new team member (ie. employee, contractor, intern, extern, etc.), then we recommend first starting with our e-Book, the Fundamentals of Hiring.

After that, you’ll know what classification you’d like to give your new hire, and then you may purchase the relevant template.

SERVICE CANCELLATIONS & TERMINATIONS

What happens if your web design client wishes to cancel your project together?

Our Termination & Cancellation agreement is the appropriate template to sign with your client, overriding your original client agreement and cancelling the project.

COMPLIMENTARY SERVICES

If you offer services that are complimentary to website design, such as a package with both a website design and brand design, then you may make use of our add-on provision.

We don’t believe its right to have you purchase full two separate agreements if you offer complimentary services, therefore the offering of our add-on provisions!
